The fleeting moments in life that changes everything.

Accident-aa?

Security Guard: STOP[points to my feet] No chappal allowed.

Me: Uhh…

Guard: Sandals not allowed. Go back, change and come.

Me: Err… Really? I stay at BTM… So far!… And imagine the traffic at this hour! Are you sure you want to put me through this?

Guard: Go back, change and come.

Me: But I wore these accidentally…

Guard: Accident-aa?

Me: Yeah, yes! Accident!

Guard: Okay. No problem.

Me: [mutters as I walk past the checkpoint] Achievement unlocked!

Low priority tasks

If you use a task management app on your computer or your phone, and you find yourself adding tasks and marking them as “low priority”, stop!

Quit the app. Uninstall it. Wipe it off your routine. Because if you are spending time jotting down what you think are ‘low priority’ tasks, you are wasting your time. Use the time to get some actual work done.

The streets are full of life…

While out on a walk, I saw a boy and a girl scampering across a busy street, giggling along the way. When they were about to reach the sidewalk, the boy shouted, “Jump!”, and the girl, as if waiting for her cue, jumped on to it. Both of them turned to face each other. They looked happy. Cheerfully, she screamed, “Oye! — ”, and then something in a language I don’t understand.

He had a smug grin on his face, and the girl flashed the most radiant smile I’ve seen in a long time. And then I realized… she was blind.

D’oh!

In the 18th episode of season 1 in How I Met Your Mother, Ted Mosby teaches his kids (and us) that nothing good ever happens after 2AM. There are greater chances of screwing up. I should’ve listened. Now I’ve paid the price.

Without taking any backups – I can’t find any of my past backups either! – of my blog, I tried out some radical experimentation within WordPress. The end result: I lost everything I had written and stored in here forever. Gone without any hope of replacing them.

I shouldn’t be too concerned though. The writing was shit. Things begin anew now. I feel the lightness of being a beginner again1. And that can only mean good things.

  1. That’s what Steve said about how he felt after being fired from Apple.
